Traveling by plane
There are two airports serving Bucharest Otopeni Airport and Baneasa Airport.

Located at 16,5 km distance from Bucharest downtown.
Access roads: The National Road DN1 Bucharest-Ploiesti.
A passageway (the first floor of the International Arrivals Terminal) offers the passengers a fast connection between the International Arrivals Terminal, International Departures and Domestic flights.
An attractive commercial area   (restaurant, café-bar, banks, exchange offices, rent-a-car, newspapers, pharmacy and retail). Facilities for disable available. Taxi cost to city center 20-25 EURO.
There are 2 shuttle bus lines which link the airport to the city: 783 and 780.
Express 783 is connecting Bucharest Otopeni (Henri Coanda) International Airport with the center of Bucharest Piata Unirii (Union Square) (about 40. min.).
The stops are:
Baneasa International Airport;
Piata Presei Libere;  hotels : Pullman, Crowne Plaza, Ramada Plaza, Ramada Parc.

Cost: about  2 EURO  - magnetic card / two trips. The cards can be purchased from the kiosk located in front of the ARRIVALS Terminal, open daily 06:00 - 20:30.

Monday - Friday 5:30 - 23:40 (at every 15 min)
Saturday, Sunday, Legal Holidays 5:30 - 23:30 (at every 30 min)

Traveling by train

Gara de Nord is a hub of activity, with ATM machines, fast-food restaurants, bars, newspaper stands, shops,  tourist agencies, pharmacy, supermarket, florist, hair salon, 24-hour left-luggage and a waiting room for first-class ticket holders.
There are links for most important destinations all over Romania and for nearby capitals Sofia, Belgrade and Budapest.
Travelers can book international tickets and make reservations in advance.
Bucharest also has two smaller train stations (Gara Obor, Bulevardul Garii 3, and Gara Baneasa, Strada Dr Minovici 1) serving trains running east to the coast, during the summer.

There are four types of trains – locals (personal) and express trains accelerat, rapid and InterCity. InterCity trains (indicated by IC on timetables) are fastest and only stop at major Romanian cities. The next fastest are rapid trains (indicated in green), then accelerat (indicated in red). 


Traveling by car
Editor on weekdays between the hours of 7-9 and 16-19 all major intersections and roads are very crowded so that the extent possible should be avoided or to use the metro

Roads are not very good always  and only two highways exists:
A1 Bucharest-Pitesti 110 KM 
A2 Bucharest-Constanta 160 KM

The best solution is to hire a car with driver which is not much more expansive.
On drive on the right and overtake on the left.
Speed limits on highways: 130 km/hr.
Speed inside the cities is limited to 50-70km/hr. and is enforced by police radars.
It is compulsory to use safety belts also for the back seats in case the car is provided with this accessory by the manufacturer.
Drunk driving is punishable by temporary confiscation of the license.
It is not recommended driving at night, as many streets and roads are unlit.
If you hire a car, make sure to have a repair kit with you.

Travel Documents and Customs
American and Canadian citizens as well as citizens of most European countries do not need an entry visa to visit Romania (for stays up to 90 - ninety - days).
However, a valid passport is required. Extensions of stays beyond 90 days can be obtained from the local passport office. Citizens of other countries should check the visa regulations that apply to them with the nearest Romanian diplomatic office.
