The museum possesses the private art collection of Krikor Zambaccian
(1889-1962). Names such as Andreescu, Grigorescu, Luchian, Pallady
and Tonitza are famous in Romania, albeit less known outside the
country, but the works, mainly following the Impressionist school,
are of the highest quality. There are also several small sculptures
that complement the canvases. Although |

Zambaccian was a big patron
of the art of his home country, he also collected European works
from artists such as Cezanne, Renoir, Delacroix, Corot, Derain,
Matisse, Pissaro, Bonnard, Utrillo and Picasso. The museum preserves
the initial display as it was conceived by the art collector
himself.
